pop-tarts, doritos, cheez-its, they weren't allowed - we were on a budget, and the budget did not call for the likes of pop-tarts, or doritos, or cheez-its. in the breakfast foods aisle, andra looked at the rows of pop-tarts - frosted and unfrosted, chocolate and fruit-flavored - then hesitantly placed a box of generic artificially flavored strawberry toaster pastries in our cart. she glanced back at the shelves.
